If you have ever researched legal issues here at the State Library, you have no doubt used our regular WestLaw database. Our subscription includes access to case law, statutes, and regulations for all 50 States & Federal jurisdictions, administrative decisions, and an increasing number of full-text searchable legal treatises (books focusing on a specific subjects). WestLaw Next contains the same information as traditional WestLaw but offers more intuitive search features similar to what we’ve all become accustomed to with Google. For example, when searching a title, simply begin typing the name and you’ll immediately get matches as you type. If it isn’t showing up and you’re sure the spelling is correct, you can be certain we don’t subscribe to it digitally via this database. Another huge plus with WestLaw Next is that you no longer need to type traditional connectors like “and”, “w/2”. The database adds them for you.
