Creating Library Programs for the LatinX Communities with Graciela Rivera, Thursday, September 21, 2023

September 21, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

On Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM, Graciela Rivera will lead a discussion on Creating Programs for the Latinx communities and the role of public libraries in this new era. Graciela will share her own personal experiences with growing up and being connected to her local library, which happens to be the same library that she manages today. She will share her experiences of being a “Latina Librarian” and the importance of providing services that address the needs of the community by eliminating language barriers.

Graciela Rivera is the Branch Manager for the Hartford Public Library, Park Street Library @ the Lyric, in Hartford, Connecticut. She was hired in 2006 as a library assistant, and she was promoted to her current position in 2017.  Ms. Rivera believes her mission is to serve and inspire others.  She enjoys doing things that will help someone, or be life changing for someone, even if it’s in a small way.
